Breakfast Topic Thoughts: Zookeeping

Last night I managed to complete the World Safari achievement and it happens to be the subject of todays WoW Insider Breakfast Topic - so brilliant timing all round!

Like a lot of pet collectors I've been waiting for the Qiraji Guardling to spawn in order to complete the Kalimdor Safari the last component I need towards World Safari and ultimately the Zookeeper title. Unfortunately for me I had no luck capturing one when they went live (so to speak) on the 21st. Since I have had my mage stationed outside of AQ waiting. I've been logging her reguarly to have a search but was yet to see one spawn - let alone capture it.

Yesterday the spawn rate was hotfixed - brilliant news. I logged in and found one instantly - just there, no-one was even flying towards it. In all honesty I'm delighted that I've now ticked the Guardling off the list of pets. It's been a long time waiting for these guys. Despite this I guess I don't feel like I achieved much as it was so easy to find and capture one (post hotfix). I'm not sure if I'd have preferred things to stay as they were and been frustrated at the Guardling rarity - atleast the capture would have felt like more of an achievement but either aay I have it now!

Later into the evening I decided to battle Grand Master Aki. I was delighted when I opened my Sack of Pet Supplies to see Flawless Elemental Battle-Stone flash up on the screen. However, when I looked in my (now) full bags I couldn't see the stone. Instead there was a Porcupette in my bags. Yayyy! I had been hoping for Pocupette for some time now *big grin*. It seems that I may have lost the battle-stone in the long grass of the Vale but it was worth it for a Porcupette of my own. [Update: upon logging in tonight my battle-stone was in the post].

So, to round it all off and answer "whatever your situation: how are your zookeeping adventures going?" - things are going really well! I'm not battling as much as I once was but I still enjoy it and it remains a key part of my in-game time. I hope that more pets and achievements are in the pipe-line and I'm really intending to do more PvP battling in the future.

I also managed to get a good deal on Sen'Jin Fetish on the AH.
And I saw Blossom cast a beam of light on himself!

  1. Grats on your title and pet. I managed to acquire mine at the weekend but I must admit I was taken aback by the sheer number of people camping the spawns.

    1. Thanks & gratz yourself. There was a hell of a lot of people on my server - I guess you have all the people who were interested in pets from day 1 (minus a few who gave up) plus a load more who have gradually picked pet collecting/battles up = lots of people!

I didn't know that the Blossoming Ancient did that!

    1. Thanks! Nor did I 'til it happened. I've seen him do it again too - I think it's a summer season thing, similar to the floor covered in petals that happened in spring :)

    1. Thanks! Aww that pesky minfernal!! I'm surprised that it's still proving to be such a pain to get but I know you aren't alone in still looking for him - a guildie has had no luck either. Good luck!

    1. I wouldnt say I have a strategy as such, I just pet battle when I have the time to. The only thing I try to stick to is battling the trainers that reward the bags for the bandages & flawless stones :)
