#IntPiPoMo is back!

We're now into November which can mean only one thing- it's time for IntPiPoMo 2014!

I've included a couple of my favourite pictures that I took last year :)

International Picture Posting Month (IntPiPoMo) is the picture equivalent of National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo). In reality it doesn't have to be screenshots from WoW but images form any game or even an array of photographs you take of the real life world - it's up to you.

The WoW blogging community equivalent was started back in 2011 by Angelya of Revive & Rejuventate and last year I took the baton on. I'd forgotten all about it this year until Chestnut tweeted me earlier - so thanks for that.

I think this years #IntPiPoMo should be really interesting with the release of Warlorsd of Draenor taking place half way through the month. I'm sure there will be a lot of pictures from Draenor appearing - and I imagine a lot of it will be new to various people who haven't yet had the chance to explore the new world in as much depth and detail.

In summary:

• Aim to take 50 screenshots during the month of November.
• there's no strict posting schedule or themes to adhere to.
• pictures can be posted in blog posts and/or on Twitter.
• Please use the #IntPiPoMo hashtag on Twitter.
• Above all have fun exploring Azeroth (or whatever other virtual world you want to).

10 Years : 10 Questions - My Answers

The Godmother over at ALT:ernative is currently doing a survey - 10 Years : 10 Questions. If you haven't already taken part you can do so by completing this simple form (or blogging or emailing her) and I'd recommend that you go do it! At the end she will be putting together a series podcasts detailing the results and I think it will make for some really interesting reading, well listening.

1. Why did you start playing Warcraft?

I started messing about with WoW sometime in 2011 playing on my boyfriends account. At that time we were both at uni and lived separately and there were times when I was bored at his house with nothing to do - so I started exploring Azeroth. Whilst it was primarily a way to pass the time, having seen him play WoW and raid, it was also something that I wanted to know more about.
Eventually in February 2012 I got my own account (i.e. he got fed up of me stealing his game time and romantically got me it for Valentines!).

1. What is your favourite zone in WoW?

Hmm pre-Pandaria I'd probably have said Stranglethorn (north & south) or maybe Grizzly Hills but I think Krasarang Wilds is my current love. Despite all the Mogu it's a rather tranquil place and perfect for fishing - one of my in-game loves.

2. What is you idea of a perfect day?

I think my perfect day would be a mixture of being out & about, playing computer games and sat schnuggled up with my zebra blanket. Most evenings I actually sit playing WoW wrapped up in my blanket or in my Jedi Robes. I'd go for a stroll in town (assuming it was sunny), I love window shoopping for pets and then home for gaming. To top  it off I'd either have take away or some other home cooked yummy food (i.e. Chinese, pizza, curry...).

3. If you could be any npc, who would it be and why?

Well the obviously choice would be Jojo the Pandaren that sells cooking supplies in the Shrine! 
Alternatively someone like Nat Pagle who just chills out all day by the sea fishing.

4. Aside from food, water, and shelter, what one thing could you not go a day without?

Other people. I'm a sociable person and I get lonely quite easily - unless I can distract myself playing games etc. So if I had nothing but food, water and shelter I'd probably go crazy pretty quick. I also, unsurprisingly, suffer from cabin fever!

5. Why do you blog?

I started blogging after I finished my masters as something to fill my time whilst I was looking for a job. When I got a job I never stopped blogging although admittedly my blogging has gotten less frequent. I suppose it's fair to say I still blog as I enjoy it. It gives me a media to ramble about my virtual life and I've met some amazing people as a result of it! I hope that by continuing to blog I'll more awesome people too.

6. What would you tell a brand new wow player about the game?

If it's grey vendor it but other things you should try to sell (auction) - atleast test the water - you could make a lot of money.
And the internet turns even the nicest people into jerks - ignore them and move on... but never give up!

7. If you could pick any theme for the next expansion what would it be?

I don't know a lot of lore if I'm honest so I wouldn't pick anything lore based like this Emerald something that lots of people chat about. And WoD fits with my desire to have more Draenei lore going on. Which leaves me with nothing springing to mind if I'm honest.

8. What is your favourite mount?

I think I did a post about my favourite mounts not too long ago. Since that post I've actually gained a few new mounts too. But, if I had to pick one mount *grumbles* I'd probably go with... the Swift Zhevra which I don't and probably never will own.

9. What cheers you up?

Food, cider, schnuggles, gaming...
10. Glass half full or half empty?

Half full! I like to be positive as much as possible.

11. What your favourite thing to do in wow?


I don't think I could name just one so I'll list a few of the things I enjoy - leveling, pet battles, the so called 'boring' things (i.e. fishing, archaeology and farming ores, herbs etc.) and my most recent love has to be flex raiding. Never thought I'd enjoy flexing as much as I do - the people are definitely a contributing factor! [Same goes for Friday Fun Runs - we could be doing anything, it's the people that make it].

The Liebster Awards are given by bloggers to bloggers as a way of discovering new blogs (I think!). There's a lot of information over at Wording Well including details on the various rule-sets. It's lovely to know that not one, not two but three fellow bloggers are aware of my existence enough to nominate me, so thank you! Pets Make Prizes!

Last week Mr and Mrs WoW announced a competition to celebrate their 1 year blogiversary and I couldn't help but enter. It was a type of scavenger hunt with four clues to locations in Azeroth with the task being to work out the location and take a screenshot. Along my journey I took a number of screenshots at each location before deciding which four to enter. I've decided to share them all here, along with the lovely poetic clues.

Tabard of the Hand Transmog!

Samaramon has set a transmog challenge to create a 'mog to go with the Tabard of the Hand. This particular tabard is a reward for The Unwritten Prophecy quest and for some reason I don't seem to have it despite completeing the Draenei starting area quests. Anyway, I wasn't going to be defeated and as I've been playing and leveling my druid a lot decided to create a leather 'mog.

 

Introducing IntPiPoMo 2013

Afternoon peeps! It's occurred to me that we're now at the beginning of November which is National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo). I really like the idea of NaNoWriMo and I am thinking about giving it a go this year - if time permits. But the point of this post is not to talk about novels but about screenshots!!

Last year I took part in International Picture Posting Month (IntPiPoMo) which as you might guess is the picture (or in this case screenshot) equivalent. IntPiPoMo was started by Angelya of Revive & Rejuventate back in 2011. The logic is:

"Y'see, a picture is worth a thousand words. The NaNoWriMo word target is fifty thousand. That means our IntPiPoMo target is fifty pictures, over the thirty days of November."                                                                                       Angelya Source

Anyways, I tweeted about IntPiPoMo and Angelya replied that she'd forgotten and has handed the baton over to me as it were - which is an awesome honour! (I hope it's as successful as past years).

To sum it up:

I know 50 is quite a daunting number but it isn't that bad.

Naked Raiding: Black Temple

It's been a while since the first naked raid back in April so I was really looking forward to it. It certaily lived up to my expectations and I had a brilliant time in Black Temple. It was a near enough full raid group and despite being naked, with white weapons, it went really smoothly.

Big thanks to MrandMrsWoW for organising it and to everyone that turned up and really made it happen.

 

#WoWscreenshotaday Days 1-3 Catch-up post

Today I noticed a few of my Twitter friends posting images with the hashtag #WoWscreenshotaday. Rinike even wrote a blog post about it so it was pretty easy for me to get up to speed with what it was all about. Tycertank is the braind behind it and outlines the challenge here and answers some questions here.

Friday Fun-Run!

Last night was the first Friday Fun-Run (as I'm calling it) but it looks like these will be becoming regular events. It was organised via the wonder that is twitter with MissMurloc and Chromeeh (GM of Sophrosyne, Nordrassil) and the helm. The idea of these events is primarily fun-runs to get achievs, mounts etc from older content and if you're interested then check out twitter for details.

Unfortunately I was at work late (stupid contract deadlines) so I missed most of the fun but I did make it home for the last few bosses in Ulduar. It was really fun for the short time that I was involved. Here's the achievements I managed to get:

                He's Not Getting Any Older (25 Player)
                The Descent into Madness (25 Player)

Which help me towards The Secrets of Ulduar (25 Player) and Glory of the Ulduar Raider (25 Player) which rewards the Reins of the Ironbound Proto-Drake.

My Top 10 Favourite Companion Pets!

Swenyola posted her top 10 comanion pets back on the 9th and since then it's really taken off! Since the original post I've seen Mrand MrsWoW, Lorelei, Zeriah, Luxypie, Navimie all post their own and yesterday Kamaliaetalia posted her own (which I have to confess reminded me about my own draft that's been waiting for some time now!). I think this is a really good idea for a mini community event and it's certainly got people talking and thinking.

I've been thinking about how to define my 'Top 10' and I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible for me to simply say it's an overall 'Top 10'. I could easily name 10 pets based on their models/appearance, pet battle abilities or those that mean something to me. I've decided to post my 'Top 10' pets that I either worked hard to get or instantly fell in love with.

Sprite Darter Hatchling
This is the first pet I ever remember wanting! It really was love at first sight. Once pets were cageable this was my first purchase.

Disgusting Oozeling
As far as I can remember the Disgusting Oozeling was the first pet I decided to farm for. Prior to MoP I went on a mission to get as many pets as possible before pet battles went live. The Oozeling (or Ozzy as I've named mine) is a random drop from Oozing Bags which are dropped my most ooze-like things. I got mine from Shifting Mireglobs in the Swamp of Sorrows.

Tiny Emerald Whelpling
The Tiny Emerald Whelpling is drops from the Noxious Whelps found in Feralas. I'm not sure when I first saw this pet but I started to farm for it before MoP. I managed to get two - keeping one for myself and sold the other.

Tiny Sporebat
The Tiny Sporebat can be purchased from Mycah the Sporeggar quartermaster once you reach axalted status. For me it's a pet that I instantly loved the look of and wanted which spurred me on to do the rep grind.

Minfernal
Minfernal makes the list for two reasons - not only did I put a lot of effort into getting my own but I also love his design. He really was one of those pets that I saw and thought I must have one. On top of this they were extremely hard to get when MoP launched. You can read about my quest to find the Mysterious Minfernal and about when I finally got my own by clicking on the links.

Enchanted Broom
The Enchanted Broom is another pet that I thought was not only awesome but very unique. The Broom can be purchased for 40 Champion's Seals from Trellis Morningsun. As I had no Horde characters at a high enough level I had to wait 'til pets were cageable and for onr to turn up on my realm AH before I had my own.

Phoenix Hatchling
The Phoenix Hatchling is a drop from Kael'thas Sunstrider who can be found in Magisters' Terrace. Now I have to confess whilst I have farmed for this pet repeatedly I've never got it myself. Rather a guildie who had several caged one and gave it to me.

Perky Pug
The Perky Pug is a reward for getting the achievement Looking for Multitudes which I got quite recently. I think the Pug is an awesome pet and in all honesty it's one of the reasons why I've used Dungeon Finder to find groups. I'm not sure if I'd have sone so many otherwise!

Singing Sunflower
The Singing Sunflower is another pet that I went back to get prioro to MoP and pet battles. You get it for completing Lawn of the Dead in the Hillsbrad Foothills.

 

Scourged Whelpling

 

The Scourged Whelpling is another pet that became available for wild battling and capture with MoP. Similarly to the Minfernal I liked the design of the pet before I became aware of its rarity and this only encouraged me to work harder to get my own. Pet-mog!

A couple of weeks ago I invited my blog readers & twitter followers alike to enter a little transmog contest that I decided to host as part of my birthday celebrations. Firstly, I should thank those that took the time to make a 'mog. They all really impressed me and inspired me to 'mog more often. The proviso was simply to make a 'mog based on the appearance of a companion/battle pet. On with the show...

Tome of the Ancient sent me this screenshot and a description:

"Here's Cat getting ready to garden in Halfhill. She was so excited she finally got a deal on a Sen'jin Fetish at the AH she decided to pose with him and try to impersonate him!"

 

Tyledres who writes the blog Frost and Claws sent me this Clockwork Rocket Bot impersonation. The helm works perfectly and I think as a whole it works brilliantly on a goblin body!

 

Here we have Zeriah of Azeroth Life with her Plump Turkey companion pet. Again, another good choice of race to match the 'mog.

This is Farli of The Overcut's 'mog to look like the Purple Puffer. Until I saw this screenshot I didn't realise there was so much purple clothing in the game!

 

Fianlly, Mrs B (of MrandMrsWoW)'s "silly entry" to look like a Winter Reindeer. As there was no red nose in game she settled for an offhand which I think works really well anyway.

 

Again, thanks for entering peepsie. I really will be trying to make transmog sets of my own rather than using pre-defined sets (yes, I'm lazy!). So, start off with here is my slightly cleaner than the pet looks version of a Clockwork Gnome.

 

An Invitation to My Birthday Bonanaza!!

In a week or so I will be turning the grand old age of 23! Pretty darn old, I know. I will be celebrating in real life but I also felt like I'd like to party with my fellow Azerothians. After all I spend a large proportion of my time posting my own blogs, reading others, commenting and general chit-chat on twitter - not to mention the hours I put into playing WoW!

I've been toying with two differnt ideas for some time now. One penalised non-EU-ers whilst the other would work on a global scale. Then some wise words from someone who I've only fairly recently had the pleasure of being acquanted with (Zeriah who blogs and tweets @druheals) finally helped me to settle on not doing just one but both!

Part 1: Pet-mog!

Pet-mog is a themed transmog contest but it's not like any other 'mog contest! Competitors are asked to pick a battle/companion pet and create a mog to make themselves look like their chosen pet.

I'm not worried about you sticking to gear suitable for your class or anything technical like that - it's all about how creative you can be in looking like said pet. In fact you could put your 'mog on any race (whether you play them or not) if you think it will help you to create the desired effect.

Competitors are welcome to hunt out the gear in game or to use add-ons such as MogIt. Why not check out Draynee's Mog Companion.

Please note: that I won't be accepting Moonkin/Boomkins and the Moonkin Hatchling pet.

To enter simply send a screenshot of your 'mog to my email (admiring.azeroth@gmail.com) along with details of the pet you are impersonating. (it's preferable that you stick Pet-mog in the subject but not 100% necessary).

Part 2: Party Time!

This is the idea that is really only an option for fellow EU-ers. I'm sorry people outside of Europe, I wish we could meet up in-game but it just doesn't work like that... unless you buy yourself an EU account etc. etc. Ofcourse, you'd be more than welcome to join in if so.

I will basically be having a virtual birthday party - complete with cake, fizz and goodie bags!

I would love to meet as many people whom I've intereacted with via blogging, twitter, in-game etc as possible. I understand that we're all busy people so even if you just turn up, say hi and shoot off again it would be awesome. I will be scheduling the party for 2 hours but I will be available most of the day if you can't make those times.

My plan is meet up in a random Alliance city (to be decided) on my server (Dragonblight), do some meet & greet, chat and see what happens really. There may even be some games though I'm not 100% sure how things such as virtual hide and seek work. But if all else fails there's always PvP pet battles.

Obviously people could cross-realm in but this could prove problematic for distributing the goodies that I'm currently working on stock-piling. Don't fear though, any goodies will either be consumable or come in cages so you can adore them no matter what server you're on (or sell them if you wish).

So I am proposing that people roll new chars and I will arrange for some lovely mage's to teleport/portal people to the party from the various starting areas (if necessary). I've decided to not state a specific starting area to meet in so that people can roll the race they want - but be warned rolling a worgen, pandaren or DK will require you to get out of the starting zone before you can be portaled in.

When: Sunday 19th May 2013 4pm-6pm (GMT) 5pm-7pm (Server Time).

Naked Raiding!

You may have seen via twitter that I have been advertising (I think you'd call it that) an opportunity for WoW bloggers and twitterers to all meet up and cross-realm raid. The naked raid was organised by Mr and Mrs WoW and for those of you who are a bit unsure here are the rules.

 

Well, the raid (which was through Molten Core) took place on Wednesday evening so I thought I'd share the couple of screenshots I took and link to some other peoples screenies and an awesome video. I had a really good time and it's safe to say things went a lot smoother than I had envisioned. I'm not sure what I thought was going to happen but it certainly didn't. We did however encounter some problems such as mana regen for the healers and the core hound packs! Mr and Mrs WoW have written a great post-raid analysis which you can read here.

 

In addition, Thibaste has put up a gallery of screenies and Batinna has uploaded a video. One thing that I really noticed from watching Batinnas video is how bright and obvious my hunters pet Kitty is - keep an eye out for the green/orange cat prowling about.

Finally, I'd like to thank Mr and Mrs WoW for organising the event and of course everyone who turned up and made it a laugh! Hopefully there will be more in the future!!!

Oscar's Transmog: Star Wars

To celebrate her birthday Matty (of Sugar & Blood) is hosting an Oscars themed transmog contest aka Matty's Movie Mog Contest. The idea being to create transmog outfits for three characters from your favourite film.

I decided that I wanted to take part when I first saw Matty's post. Picking the movie was easy - I love Star Wars and probably a little top much. I have a collection of memorabilia worth thousands of pounds. I've attended numerous conventions and have been lucky enough to meet the likes of Mark Hamill, Kenny Baker, David Prowse, Peter Mayhew to name a few.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Initially I envisioned doing the iconic Princess Leia's slave girl look but couldn't make it 100% perfect. At this point I almost gave up on Star Wars and thought about doing LOTR - after all WoW has dwarves, elves and humans. But it just wasn't right and so I've battled through the MogIt catalogue to produce these:

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 11

Most of us use TSM, Auctioneer and/or Auctionator in combo with Postal - are there any other lesser known gold making addons you use?

I'll start of by saying I'm lazy and have very few addons. I also forget to open up curse client regularly to check for updates meaning more often than not my add-ons are in need of an update and aren't actually working. It normally takes a couple of days of "a newer version of add-on x is available. update now!" before I update. Writing this has prompted me to check and update my add-ons right now!

Anyway, I do use a select few add-ons including Postal and Auctionator. I find that just using the two to aid my gold-making is sufficient. I love Postal and I'm not sure if I could live without it! It's so simple but incredibly useful. When my bofriend first told me about Auctionator I wasn't really sure how useful it would be for me. Initially, I would even forget to use it and would manually check the AH and work out a decent selling price for an item. But once I started using it I found it to be extremely useful. It speeds up the process of both placing auctions and buying items - which means more time to play!

I'm looking forward to other peoples replies as I'm not even aware of any other add-ons to assist with gold-making. I honestly don't even know what TSM is! Assuming that TSM is Trade Skill Master the boyfriend has just explained it to me - sounds useful. I'm hoping to find out about some more and maybe even start using them myself (until they need an update atleast!!)

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 10

I'm now half way through Nev's 20 Days of Gold Making now and todays question is:

Do you farm materials? Why? Why not? & Which ones? Where?

I have farmed certain materials and will no doubt continue to do so. The truth is that I don't like to spend my gold on items that I could get for myself. I'd rather fly around Outlands mining Fel Iron Ore than give someone I don't gold for doing exactly that.

I guess I've farmed most materials atleast once in order to level a profession. To be honest, I've probably farmed quite a lot of materials just for the hell of it.

Mining Ore
Ore is something that I continually farm - every (well 99% of) node I run, walk or fly past I mine. My hunter (main) is a miner/jewelcrafter - both maxed. I don't need to mine the nodes for a skill up or the experience but I still do it. I guess it's the hoarder in me that insists I must virtually collect the ore. My DK is also a miner (with engineering) but she's currently on vacation in Halfhill living the good life farming vegetables - which brings me onto my next sub-section...

Cooking Materials
Cooking is something that I enjoy both in-real-life and in-game. In-game my hunter has max-level cooking - even before I had MoP. I took full advantage of the free 10-day trials available on not one but two occassions. I used this opportunity to max out my cooking and to farm some cooking materials. I started my farm at Halfhill and got growing veg. Now this more traditional-style farming in combination with fishing (something I also enjoy in-game) earned me a fair bit of gold.

Herbs & Leather
I've farmed both herbs and leather atleast once when leveling a subsequent profession (i.e. alchemy and leatherworking). However, I've not farmed them to the extent that I have mined ore or been fishing.
I pick herbs (on my maggie) in the same way that I mine ore on my hunter - if I see it I pick it. This means that I normally have enough herbs to do my alchemy with little or no need to do additional farming.
Skinning is a different matter! My druid, who still needs some loving and to be leveled, is a skinner/leatherworker. I think in part these professions are one of the reason she rarely played. I'm too stubborn to give up on them but I find them such a pain! I never have enough leather to craft items - no matter how many animals I've skinned. Periodic skinning sessions are the only way I seem to get enough grr.

Where?
Well I've farmed for various items in various places. I tend to use wow-professions.com as my guide when I'm farming items. However, their guides sometimes miss out certain ores/herbs/etc. and in those cases I use wowhead to find where they exist/grow.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 7

If you were starting over again (maybe on a new server perhaps), how would you start building some capital & what goal would you set yourself?

Whilst I play Alliance 95% of the time, I do have a dark-side and play Horde-side for a change. I would play more Horde-side if my Tauren, Moochew, was on a different server. I want to find a new server for my Horde-characters and I spoke in more depth about this in an earlier post.

For the purporse of this post I will assume I've found a new server and have re-created Moochew (and some other alts) there. So, how would I start making some money?

I'd like to say something like - 'I'd watch the auction house for a few weeks and work out what sells well on this new server and go from there' but that would be lying. I would certainly keep an occasional eye on the AH but I wouldn't do this in any more depth than a quick browse when I'm near one.

"I wonder what sells well here?"

I would definately take a gathering profession on Moochew (or whichever character I leveled first). This would probably be herbalism and then I would take inscription as my second - as everyone needs glyph's. I think I would also condsider having a tailor as people always need bags - including myself. Another profession that I find makes money is engineering (via selling pets/mounts) so I would probably consider a miner/engineer combo aswell - depending on how many characters I take on leveling.

As I mentioned in a previous 20 Days of Gold Making post (Day 2) I've never had a money-based goal. If I were to start again on a new server I think I would try having a goal. However, I wouldn't be too strict about it and would probably be more focused on leveling.

Which market has made you the most gold over the years?

The honest answer is I have no idea. I tend to sell whatever I have lying around in my bags or I've got a surplus of in the bank.  As I really don't have a clue what the honest answer is I'll talk about the top 2 markets I usually play as these are most likely to have made me the most gold.

Selling gathered profession materials
By 'gathered' I mean herb and ore/bars that I've collected and for ease will also include cloth. I've always sold any surplus of these materials and found that it can be a good way of making gold. However, the quantity and price at which you can sell these items really depends on the amount available on the market and demand. Some days its easy to sell a stack of 20 ore for over 200g, aother day the same ore will make maybe 50g. It's safe to say this market is very unpredictable but one I've found to be worth playing.

Homemade pets & mounts
Theres a hole range of in-game pets and mounts that can be homemade and sold for a profit and I've played this market since I was able to make my first pet. I think this first pet was the Pet Bombling made by an engineer. I have made duplicates of every pet that I'm able to make and sold it. If the market price is low and I won't make a profit then I keep hold of the pet until it will. Concerning mounts I sold the first Mekgineer's Chopper that I made. I managed to make a tidy profit that paid for half of my own chopper.

Aside from selling gathered materials and pets/mounts, I try to sell whatever I can - from gems to food. Not everything sells but I think it's always worth a shot.
