Blog Azeroth: Mountable Mounts

One of the things I have noticed since my return is the huge amount of mounts available now through rep gains. I am still working on a couple, but it has made me wonder which mounts you guys are loving or hating

So what are your top 5 mounts - or just the ones you go to all the time because you like the way they ride? What are the ones you really dislike and can never bring yourself to use - does it rub against your collecting nature (if you have one) to buy all the mounts even though you know you will never use them?                               Source

In total I own 105 mounts and there are a lot I still don't have - mostly those from rep grinds. Some notable examples (that I'm working on getting) include the Disc of the Red Flying Cloud and Talbuks from the Kurenai.

Blog Azeroth: The One!

I'm a little late to the party with this one but Cymre asked the following question as Blog Azeroth's shared topic for 22-31 March:

What is your absolute favourite profession in WoW? Why do you love it above all others and what is one feature you would add to the profession if you could?

So, a quick recap on the available professions in-game (in-case like me you often forget what they all are). There's three sub-categories of professions which I refer to as: gathering [primary], crafting [primary] and secondaries. Each character may have up to two primary and up to all four secondaries at any one time (you can unlearn profs if you so desire). In most cases it can be beneficial to have complementary gathering and crafting professions (but, not all crafting profs have an associated gathering prof).

Gathering [primary]
Mining, Herbalism and Skinning.

Crafting [primary]
Jewelcrafting, Engineering, Blacksmithing, Alchemy, Inscription, Leatherworking, Tailoring and Enchanting.

Secondary
Fishing, Cooking, First Aid and Archaeology.

Now I'm somewhat an altoholic - I have a large collection of characters but rarely play most of them. Anyway, as a result I have all of the professions except two (Blacksmithing and First Aid) at varying levels. To date I've only maxed out a handful of the professions but I do know which I like and which I don't!

What's my One!?!
I've been thinking about my answer to this question for a couple of days now. I had narrowed it down to two and then I finally chose my One. The two are both secondary professions, namely cooking and fishing. In general I find the secondary professions to be more relaxed, more laid back and less of a 'I must hit max level' and as a result normally max them out early on.

Blog Azeroth: Collections

It's been a while since I've taken part in a shared topic but and only did this question catch my eye but I saw it before the week was over!
Noahdeer of Be MOP has posted a shared topic question on Blog Azeroth about collections:

World of Warcraft has added many different items for players to collect, whether it be collecting pets, mounts, transmog gear or knickknacks about the lore. This week’s topic asks what you do collect in the game and what is your prized item from that collection?

I collect things both in real life and in-game. It's part of being a hoarder. I also like to be thorough and so once I start something I like to finish it. I'm also stubborn which helps. In-game I collect a number of things both physical items and non-physical.

Battle Pets
This one is pretty obvious to anyone who reads my blogs (but if you're new to my blog then maybe not. Also Hey!). Even before the announcement of pet battles I collected companion pets buying them as and when I could. When pet battles was announced I worked really hard to get as many of the then available pets as I could. Since MoP I have continued collecting pets. I manage my collection on warcraftpets.com and you can view my collection here. I currently have 413 unique pets. Obviously, I still have a number of pets to collect and level. I also need to complete Raiding with Leashes.

Furtive Father Winter: Take 2

The past few days I've been working on my second FFW gift. A few of the recent events participants were yet to receive their gifts and Aka had made the decision to arrange secondary back-up gifts. I volunteerd to produce a gift for one of these poor peeps and got Tyledres.

I started reading Tyledres' blog before Christmas so had a feel for her blog style and game interests. My biggest issue was what to produce for someone who's been waiting this long for their gift!?! It was like extra pressure.

In the end I came up with what I thought was a suitable gift. For me my favourite feature of Tyledres blog is her "Who's the Warcraft Pet?" game / mini-competition. It had also occurred to me that she doesn't get to play these games as she's too busy creating them. And so my gift idea was born - a companion pet quiz.

My quiz encompassed 3 rounds: hybrids, colour inverts and a wordsearch. I won't give too much away as Tyledres has decided to spread the 3 rounds over several days with the answers being revealed on Tuesday. Blog Azeroth: No Favourites

A few weeks ago, I noticed logging onto some characters seemed to be more irksome than others, it dawned on me that there were a few who never, ever seemed to be a chore to play. My question is, (and yes, you need to have more than one character over level 1) which of your characters do you always look forward to "seeing?" But the real question is why? Perhaps think of this from a role playing perspective, that this character has a personality, play style and demeanor that inevitably just works. I'd love to meet them.

So I've been thinking for the past week - which characters do I enjoy playing or rather seeing? This question does not have an easy answer. I am, by my own admission, an alt-oholic. Since I started playing the game I have struggled to not continuously make new characters that I level to 20 (if they're lucky) and then forget about until I fancy something a bit different from the usual 2-3 I play. I guess this means that those 2-3 I regularly play are my favourites but does this mean I look forward to playing them most!?!

I haven't tried role playing my characters (yet?) so will be talking more in general. I have decided to feature a single character of mine. Now this character was one of the first I created - coming just after I created my hunter and re-made my mage. Despite this she is only level 26 and is rarely played. But this doesn't mean shes not special to me.

My Furtive Father Winter Gift!

Ok, so I've been a bit dense! I've been checking my email looking for my gift and thought that I hadn't received it. However, I had! You know how some people can't be trusted with technology well I'm a bit like that. I thought I'd set my email so that nothing went into spam but how wrong I was.

So, my gift was from Eric "Xsinthis" Dekker of The Golden Crusade... Who's blog I not only happen to follow but I have also commented on the awesome FFW gift he got. Eric, all I can say is thank you and apologies for not finding it sooner!!!

Here it is...

Winter Veil is here and with it comes several pets for you to collect! The holiday season is also filled with gift giving spirit, and what better gift to give than an adorable World of Warcraft pet to your favourite WoW player (even if your favourite WoW player is you!).

Blog Azeroth: Future Raid-Drop Pets

I'm rather late in getting around to posting my response to Effraeti's (of Awaiting the Muse)question...

While running through MC, BWL, AQ40, and Naxx over the weekend, I got to thinking...

 

If a future patch adds more raid-dropped pets like those introduced in 5.1, what pets would you like to see? What raid and boss would they be available from?

It's taken me so long for a few reasons - one being the festive season but the main issue being I have very little experience and therefore knowledge of any raids! Nonetheless, I love collecting and battling pets so I wanted to think up some sort of reply.

For me, the addition of raid-drop pets and the achievement Raiding With Leashes was really exciting. It gave me a reason to go to these old raids that I'd mostly never heard of. I had cleared the Molten Core a few times with my guild but it was this achievement that made me go back.

So, all I can say is that I would love for there to be more raid-dropped pets added in the future. Where and who they're mini versions of - I have no idea!

Christmas Chaos!

Today, I've woken up to the realisation that I'm very behind with my list of stuff to do this week before Christmas. Working nights hasn't helped - that is for sure. I spend my evenings doing housework, cooking etc and playing a couple hours of WoW before work. As a result, I've not progressed too well concerning Winter Veil and the Merrymaker. I wanted to have this achievement complete before Christmas but it looks like I'll be finishing it off afterwards.

More urgently, Christmas is just one week away! My boyfriend doesn't want anything in real-life, so I decided to get him something in-game. But... what do you get someone who's banking alt has over 200K gold and as a result they have almost everyhing they could want? There's one in-game pet that I happen to hvae two of that I know he lacks so my plan is to cage it up for him. I'll have to think some more about what else to get him.

Even more importantly though - I have to sort my gift for my Furtive Father Winter recipient! I now know who my recipient is am working through a series of ideas but it's proving much harder than I frirst though. I'm still really looking forward to making said gift - once I've decided upon an idea / theme to go with. Oh well, it's all good fun!

Blog Azeroth's Furtive Father Winter 2012

I've decided to take part in this years Furtive Father Winter event. This isn't exactly a Blog Azeroth: Shared Topic more a Blog Azeroth community event. It is being hosted by Akabeko over at Red Cow Rise and has been featured by WoW Insider this week.

The event is basically a virtual secret santa with participants being given a gift recipient whom they have to purchase (or rather produce something) for. For more information on how the event works see Redcow's original post and the Blog Azeroth thread.

I'm really looking forward to this event and would like to encourage everyone interested to take part - after all the more the merrier!

Blog Azeroth: Thanksgiving Event 2012

I joined Blog Azeroth a few days after starting up this blog. I joined to meet some fellow bloggers and specifically to get involved in community events. And here it is, my first shared topic blog.

This shared topic is the month-long Thanksgiving Event 2012 and there's still time to write your own blog if you haven't already! For my thanksgiving post I am going to thank those who have helped me along my way through Azeroth.
